VISION
To see youth express their sound as musicians and perform their role as agents of positive change in their community. We want to hear a new unified sound; one of perfect cadence and harmony opposing violence and poverty.
WHO WE ARE
SoundCheck Youth Arts (“SoundCheck”) is a youth-led not-for-profit organization stationed within the Weston-Mount Dennis community that empowers underserved youth through music and mentorship programs.
WHAT WE DO
We provide free access to musical instruments, experienced teachers and an encouraging atmosphere where youth can develop and thrive. Our mentorship sessions focus on building the skills, confidence and resilience of the youth we serve.
HOW WE DO IT
SoundCheck uses a peer-mentorship, hands-on approach to engage and empower youth in our communities. Our model connects youth at all levels of musical proficiency with our Musician Mentors. These are the accomplished musicians who plan and facilitate our teaching and mentorship activities. Under their motivating guidance, our participants learn the skills and knowledge they need to be successful both on and off the stage!
1. Lessons:
Music Lessons: Receive lessons from any one of our experienced Musician Mentors. Learn to play Guitar, Bass, Drums or Keyboards! We cover a wide range of musical topics from playing techniques, musical theory, different musical styles and more! Sign-up now!
- Band Training: Join our clinics and guided band rehearsals for young players looking to sharpen their sound and performance skills! We also offer meaningful performance opportunities for young musicians in the communities we serve who are looking to showcase their skills.
